Hiking in Grand Beach Nature Preserve & Grand Beach Marsh
The Harbor Country Hikers’ mid-November adventure will start out at a brand new nature preserve and move to an adjacent Chikaming Open Lands property.
The Village of Grand Beach is now the proud owner and caretaker of what was formerly referred to as the 42 Acres and is now officially the Grand Beach Nature Preserve.
Treasurer Bob Mueller, co-author of a history of the area, will recall some of the Grand Beach story and President Pat Fisher will share some natural history and point out unique features of this and the neighboring Grand Beach Marsh Preserve.
The hike will take you through sand prairies, mesic forests and along a rare coastal plain marsh.
The hike is open to the public and will begin at 2:00 EST and is estimated to take approximately two hours. Physical difficulty is moderate.
Please park at the Village Hall at 48200 Perkins Blvd., Grand Beach, MI.
