Grand Beach Nature Preserve (42 Acres) Update

We are thrilled to say that as of November 17, 2021,  the Village is finally the proud owner and caretaker of what was formerly referred to as the 42 Acres, and will now be called the Grand Beach Nature Preserve!

With a $2,400,000 grant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Trust Fund, a $58,000 grant from The Pokagon Fund, a land donation equal to 12.6% of the value of the land from the families of Erich Hamburger, Ernest Mathias, Lawrence Frankle and many generous donations from individuals, we were able to reach our ultimate goal of owning and preserving this land for generations to come!

Thank you to all of you who have provided grants or donated so generously to our fundraising campaign. We would also like to thank everyone who organized and helped with the fundraiser.

Without all of your help, this would not have been possible.

We will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony in the future, so watch the local newspapers for announcements.
