Shoreline Erosion

New Buffalo Shoreline Alliance

The beaches along all of the shores of the great lakes have been affected tremendously by the near record high water levels, and beach erosion has caused problems not only in Grand Beach, but all along the shorelines of Michigan.

New Buffalo Shoreline Alliance was formed to try and find a solution for the loss of sand on beaches south of the New Buffalo Harbor which includes our beaches. They have been working diligently on this problem.

The Village of Grand Beach is very fortunate to have both Brian Byrnes and Council Member Steve Slater representing us on the New Buffalo Shoreline Alliance as they work to find a way to bring the sand back to the beaches.

New Buffalo Shoreline Alliance has met with both state and federal representatives to discuss the problem and to find funding to support a solution.
