Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is made up of four members of the community and a Village Council member who serves as an ex officio member.  Members are appointed by the Village Council for 3-year terms, with the exception of the ex officio member who is appointed to a 1-year term.

The Planning Commission worked very hard to create the Village's first Master Plan and review that plan annually to determine if it should be updated.  They also review the Village's zoning ordinance and help prepare zoning ordinance amendments.

Master Plan

The Planning Commission created the Village of Grand Beach master plan with help from McKenna Associates in 2009.

The Michigan Planning Enabling Act requires that the plan be reviewed at least every 5 years. If the planning commission decides the plan does not need to be updated after the 5 year plan review, it is recommended that the Planning Commission review the plan each year following the initial 5 year review.

On September 10, 2019, the Planning Commission reviewed and discussed the Master Plan and agreed that the plan did not need to be updated at that time.

The Planning Commission will continue to review the Master Plan each year.
