Trash

Trash is picked up by Able Disposal on Monday year around with an extra pickup on Friday between July 1 and the Friday after Labor Day.

Place cans (carts) at the edge of the street by 7:00 a.m. EST - 6:00 a.m. CST. If Monday falls on a major holiday, they will pick up on Tuesday.

You may leave one large item out for pick up each week. Call Able Disposal to make arrangements so that they can send a special truck if necessary. You will be charged a fee for any items containing Freon.

Glass, metal, cans, papers, cardboard and certain plastics may be co-mingled in the recycling can (cart). Be sure to rinse food or liquid out before placing items in the recycle can (cart).

NOT RECYCLABLE: Plastic grocery bags, bubble wrap, Styrofoam and any plastic that you can poke your finger through.

Trash & Recycle Cans (Carts) Restriction - Cans Are Only Allowed at the Edge of the Street During Specific Times

In an effort to keep the Village looking neat, and the streets clear of trash and recycle cans, the Village of Grand Beach Council has approved a plan that restricts the times that trash and recycle cans (carts) can be left at the edge of the street. The times have been changed since the newsletter was sent out recently.

Effective June 1, 2021, trash and recycle cans (carts) must not be placed at the edge of the street prior to 11:00 a.m. CST - 12:00 p.m. EST on the day before trash or recycle pickup, and must be removed from the edge of the street no later than 8:00 a.m. CST - 9:00 a.m. EST on the day after pickup.

Able Disposal Offers Carry Out Service for a Fee

Able Disposal offers a service called “Carry Out or Back Door Service” that is billed directly to the customer at $25 per month, billed quarterly. They will take your trash can (cart) from outside of your house (as long as it is not inside a fence or enclosure) to the truck, empty the can (cart) and return it to the house. This service is also available for the recycle can (cart), and will cost an additional $25 per month, billed quarterly by Able Disposal.

If you are interested in signing up for the Able Disposal service or getting more information about it, please contact them at (219) 929-1150.

Other Important Information

Do not place cans (carts) near cars, poles or other stationary objects as the automatic arm on the truck will not be able to pick up the cart and your trash and/or recycle will not be emptied.

It is your responsibility to remove the trash and recycle cans (carts) from the edge of the street after they are emptied (See information above regarding specific times that cans are allowed at the edge of the street).

If your pickup is missed, call ABLE DISPOSAL at (219) 929-1150.
